I’ve attended 200+ weddings and it finally hit me that a wedding is a keepsake of people who have impacted your life, each one a relic of your journey so far. It’s great to watch your worlds collide, blending all these people from different times. It also lifts a shroud from your parents, to see the community you have built in your life, and that we are just more than our work.
Ironically, Grace and Ryan met at work. It starts as every great love story does, Grace was questioning the point of Ryan’s position. But through the time, many guffaw-inducing Slack messages, this long-distance prevailed, and Ryan transferred to Austin. I so admire couples who can work and live with each other, it really shows you are marrying your best friend.
It was a perfect fall wedding at the Allen House. You were greeted in the front with golden dinosaur place holders and a thousand cranes that were constructed by the couple. The Alyssa Kristin dress that Grace wore was so on brand, and of course their dog Boz was in attendance. They wanted a casual, modern, not stuffy wedding, which they delivered. Their boss officiated, and the night was a dance party by Danny Ray and the Acoustics, he and Ryan went to high school together.
My favorite memory of working with Grace and Ryan is when moving forward with me, they sent a photo of their dog that said “Hi Sam” and I sent one back with my dog “yassssssss.”
