I love when couples request to have their engagement sessions at places sentimental to them. Whether it’s a place they frequent to get coffee, their dog’s favorite walking trail, or their neighborhood cafe. Emily and Matt wanted to revisit Holly Shores for their engagement session, as it was where Matt proposed to Emily right before a trip to Costa Rica. (An arguably solid idea after I proposed on a trip, and panic gifted my partner a set of earrings out of expectation and nervousness of the upcoming proposal)
I introduced myself to their two pups, Katy and Vince, with lots of love until they were comfortable with me. We then meandered along the Holly Shores trail, stopping at their proposal spot, and their favorite neighborhood restaurant Launderette. Halfway through our engagement session at Holly Shores, Katy and Vince were picked up by a friend so we could focus solely on Matt and Emily without the (most wonderful) distraction of the dogs.
With the pups handed off, we explored Metz Neighborhood Park and had the unique pleasure of enjoying it all to ourselves. With the winter light fading fast, I have to thank Matt and Emily for trusting me to use the last moments of light at Longhorn Dam. Emily and Matt descended the steep decline with such ease, in which we were rewarded with the last pinkish hues of the day.
I cannot wait to photograph their wedding at Justine’s Secret House this fall.
